The Old Post House offers a traditional English Bed and Breakfast in a character 17th Century house. Situated in the beautiful village of Great Wishford, midway between Stonehenge (7 miles) and Salisbury (5 miles) we are in a greenbelt conservation area of outstanding natural beauty.
Great Wishford has a long and ancient history and is mentioned in the Doomesday Book. Our house is shown on a map of the village dating to 1650 and we believe it was used as accommodation and stabling for the stagecoach riders and their horses.
There are miles of public footpaths and bridleways on our doorstep, and the River Wylye is famous in angling circles for its crystal clear chalk stream fly fishing. The house is light and airy and is a pleasing blend of modern, traditional and antique styles - the perfect place to relax and explore the many local attractions, which include Longleat House and Safari Park, Stourhead Gardens, Wilton House, Avebury Stone Circle, The New Forest, and of course Stonehenge.
"Lovely peaceful location. Delightful house, rooms immaculate and tastefully furnished. Have stayed in various hotels and B&B's in the Salisbury area but this one must surely take first prize. Owners very welcoming and breakfast excellent.
We will be back!"
